Variety is the spice of life, at least that is Foot's approach to sculpture.  On this site you will find an incredible diversity of sculpture from the monumental down to the micro sized (jewellery) piece.  It is also the unshakeable belief of the artist that Art should be Beautiful and Durable, but also Affordable.  These factors have largely shaped Foot's sculptures, and he has developed and perfected some new mediums to make them not only beautiful and durable, but also affordable.  Please feel free to submit any feedback you have regarding anything.  A delightful collection of sculpture for everyone's taste Foots Artworks is the trading name under which Foot Young's sculptures are made and distributed throughout the/footdian.gif (4785 bytes) world. Foot has been living and working primarily in Australia for the last  twenty five years. His contributions to the evolution of sculpture in Australia, a relatively young country of 21 million people, are substantial. He is regarded as Australia's foremost environmental sculptor, as most of the body of his work focuses on natural subjects, primarily marine mammals. In the last ten years he has turned his attention to the most challenging of sculptural aspirations, that of the human form and beyond. Diversity, however, has also yielded some interesting results in other areas such as the abstract and the surrealistic.  . A C. V. provides additional information.

Foot's choice of mediums undoubtedly reflects his strong feelings regarding what he terms 'modern art'. However it is realized that all artists aren't lucky enough to live near one of the worlds largest deposits of top quality marble, centred around Chilligoe, in central Queensland or 'the outback'. Marble is almost exclusively what his originals are sculpted from. Some of these originals are still available (list).   From these master patterns, moulds are made and marble castings are done, using a technique which Foot has applied to sculpture and perfected. These Cast marble sculptures are hardly distinguishable from the originals and in some respects they are superior, price wise they are unmatchable. Note that works are available in a black marble or a white marble version, and recently an extremely colourful/eel-jade-THUMB.jpg (2353 bytes) rendering has been applied to the Fishes and Seahorses. Also just developed is a red version, also aqua, and a cast stone that looks identical to Jade.  Some of Foot's larger pieces are done in hot cast bronze, but he also utilizes a lower cost option called Cold cast bronze , for his smaller works, providing identical beauty at fractional cost.  Another  medium  has been successfully applied, alloy  and for those whose taste tend towards the avant garde, this is ideal.   Foot uses the information gathered from the Survey to best make  public art that the public helps create, and enjoys.  Three sizes of manatees have  been sculpted.   Foot has also completed  a life sized marble Mermaid, also a mini one, a Dolphin Fish or Mahi Mahi Fish., and a ten foot high Dugong ( Australian manatee relative), a child's bust, "Hamish". In 2005 several new works, including the Suave Seahorse, and Foot's Jack Russell Tiny Dog, and more contemporary pieces, just for variety.   Recently a female Gargoyle was done, very surrealistic, and for those with a flair for something possibly erotic art, see this.  The most recent work has actually been in progress for over 20 years, a bust of the founder of Hamilton Island, Keith Williams.  It is now being taken to a size of 3 metres.

As of 2010 there are over 700  different pieces, including jewellery, available ranging from $35 to $250,000 in a variety of eleven mediums. Images and information of these may be viewed via the directories, above left. Bear in mind that any work may be available in most of the  mediums, even though the image may only depict only one medium or colour. Commissions may be accepted for new works if Foot's likes the subject. There are Galleries distributing the work in Australia, the U.S., and Japan. Pricing is standardized at all locations, and you can now order directly off this site.  Every sculpture is supported with a lifetime Guarantee. There is also information on maintenance and placing marble sculptures outdoors. The table of data provides info such as shipping weight, sizes, prices, and more.

Foot's original studio and gallery is located on Hamilton Island which is situated in the Whitsunday Islands, part of the Great Barrier Reef complex off the east coast of Australia.  Hamilton is the largest resort in Australia, the only one in the world with its own jet airstrip. It is a one hour flight from Cairns,  the nearest and northernmost international airport, and 2 hours from Sydney.

Full color catalogues of Foot's Artwork are available on request. .  It is hoped you enjoy this site.   We now have available  Instructional Videos which covers all aspects of sculpting, including Modeling, Mould Making and Casting (DVD 1, which is 1 hr. 45 min.) and also a comprehensive treatise on Stone Sculpture (Dvd 2,  which is 2 hrs 45 min.)  These are a few of the older format VHS tapes available at 50% off, and you can order from this link Ordering Instructional DVD's
